Session From Data to Decisions: Producing  Actionable and Accessible Earth Information Systems

Description:

To understand our changing planet, scientists and researchers often rely on observational datasets that are collected, processed, and released on many platforms worldwide. These datasets are incomplete unless synthesized with the understanding of Earth system science. These data products can be optimally utilized through co-development with stakeholder inputs. Leveraging technologically advanced cyberinfrastructure and visualization platforms is critical to the success of providing accessible Earth system information.

In this session, we would like to showcase initiatives on applicable information systems of Earth system science disciplines. We invite contributions describing various aspects of information systems, including their scientific foundation, organization, technical design, and approaches to stakeholder engagement. Lastly, we invite perspectives from both scientists and stakeholders on general strategies for how best to enable, uptake, and/or use of Earth science information through different methods of production and dissemination.
