Session Climate Change and Security

Description:

Among the many aspects of climate change impacts is its potential to act as a "force multiplier" in the national security arena. Building on a growing portfolio of analyses, this session will provide updates on the range of climate security risks and opportunities already identified at the policy level, in order that senior decisionmakers can assess options and take the best actions to protect US national security in a changing world. We also interested in work at the intersection of climate science and security analysis (e.g., how climate change affects the determination of security risks and vulnerablities around the world). Studies that employ observational, modeling, and analytic techniques to support climate security analyses, and how these can be combined with from these models along with use cases, historical data, and experience are especially relevant.
