Session Strategies for Enabling Community Resilience across the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise

Description:

New Orleans, and across Louisiana, has experienced the brunt of two recent severe hurricane seasons. Since 2020, the state has been hit by two of the strongest hurricanes to have hit Louisiana in its history, Ida and Laura.  Since then, numerous communities continue to struggle to recover as many residents are unable to get insurance claims resolved, or are still in temporary housing. In 2023 insurance companies are experiencing severe trouble as they've seen losses from increasing claims, not just from Louisiana but elsewhere too.  Yet among the stories about the struggles to recover, there are some silver linings that may help improve community resilience.  This session is open to highlighting the difficulties and opportunities in improving community resilience in a state exposed to extreme weather and water hazards.
