The cloud system with embedded convections is an important precipitation system and also a major object for weather modification studies. Because of the important effect of embedded convections, we simulate a precipitation process influencing big range of China happened from 19th to 21th in July in 2007 using mesoscale model WRF(V2.2). Basing the results, we studied this process, emphasizing on formation process, precipitation and microphysical features of embedded convections. Some conclusions are reached. WRF model can simulate such process well. The formation of cloud system is because of 500hpa upper trough and low level convergence line. Because of the influencing of such advantageous weather position, two kinds of convections emerged in the cloud system. One is ladder-pattern embedded convections, and the other is parallel-distribution embedded convections. In the ladder-pattern embedded convections, precipitation shows an increasing trend from the low convection to the upper convection. If the embedded convection is higher, then the cold cloud process is more active, so the precipitation is higher. In the parallel-distribution embedded convections, the precipitation shows a decreasing trend from the south to the north, because the precipitation is decided by the cloud water content. In this paper, precipitation features and microphysical features of the two kinds of embedded convections are analyzed in this paper.
