The PV Bible: Applications in Atmospheric Dynamics (Invited Presentation)

Hoskins, McIntyre, and Robertson's 1985 paper on IPV revolutionized the application of dynamical concepts to synoptic meteorology. Using this paper as a point of departure, I will discuss the ways in which PV thinking has been extended by various investigators to bring new insight to a wide range of outstanding problems in the atmospheric sciences.
