Integration of automated climate networks to develop quality control procedures

Ted W. Sammis, New Mexico State University, Plant and Environmental Sciences., 88003 Las Cruces, NM; and S. Engle

In order to maintain good quality control (QC) and allow for internet management tools to be run using all available climate data in a state, all automated climate station networks need to be incorporated into a common data base. The objective of the research was to develop an operating system and software that allowed integration and QC of all automated climate data in New Mexico including Snotel, Raws, City of Ablquerque, CoCoRaHS , New Mexico Climate Network, Union Pacific Railroad, Private citizens network and two irrigation districts networks. The data was acquired from the climate stations directly and from ftp sites where the processing software was developed to take multiple input formats and convert them into common units. QC has not been done on the original data set using spatial algorithms because individual networks climate stations were far apart. Both linear and distance and elevation weighted corrected interpolation subroutines were created and compared. wrf recording  Recorded presentation
