Assessment of Recent Climate Changes in Nebraska and Kansas in 1985-2007

Regional changes of surface temperature and precipitation have occurred along with increase of the average contiguous U.S. surface temperatures. In this study, authors addressed the temporal and spatial variation of climate extreme events in the region of Nebraska and Kansas states by using hourly observation networks and satellite monitoring data set from 1985 to current. We also compared our results with climate changes derived from daily data sets from the US Historical Climate Networks. Our assessments on the trend and variation of extreme indices provided a different view of climate extreme change in the US High Plains Region.
