Guangxi is located in the low latitude region of China with complexity of geographical environment. As one of the meso-micro scale weather systems, hailstorms occur frequently in the west mountainous area in Guangxi in spring and cause much loss to the local society, hence hail suppression operation are taken every year supported by the local government. Since hailstorm is highly localized, it's quite difficult to forecast the timing and spotting. Based on the investigation of the hail days for 42a (1970~2011) in Guangxi area, analysis of the favoring circular characteristics and the identification of hailstorms was made, by using the data of regular meteorological measurement and Doppler radars, jointly with some physical parameters. It showed that the hailstorms happened in Guangxi area were associated with 3 kinds of troughs, and the physical parameters of the layer changed abnormally in the hailstorm cycles. In addition, in the Doppler radar maps, the hailstorms had some unique characteristics in the shape and the intensity.
