Recently a steady bouyancy driven linear equatorial model was proposed as an explanation for equatorial deep jets in the ocean. At the same time new observational data suggested that the deep jets may be very low frequency oscillations. This paper is an attempt to explore an oscillating bouyancy driven linear equatorial model and relate it both to deep jets and to equatorial basin filling modes.
