Monday, 20 June 2005
Patricia Huerta, INEGI/National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Information, Aguascalientes, Mexico; and J. L. Ornelas

Using temperature and precipitation records from several thousand weather stations in Mexico, collected by the National Weather Service and compiled in a database in INEGI (the national mapping agency in Mexico), mean temperature and precipitation maps for each month along several decades for all the country were produced, taking the corresponding values registered at the weather stations and making a spatial interpolation including the relief (elevation) as an influencing factor (Mitasova). The maps obtained, along with time series analysis, will help to understand better the spatial and temporal variability of the climatic variables in Mexico, in light of the Global Change.
