The Multi-Angle Implementation of Atmospheric Correction (MAIAC) is a new MODIS algorithm which uses the time series analysis and spatial processing for an advanced cloud detection, aerosol retrievals, and atmospheric correction. MAIAC is currently in the Collection 6 processing of MODIS record creating a product MCD19 which will be released in spring of 2018. MAIAC product suite includes column water vapor, aerosol optical depth and type (regional background/smoke/dust), land surface BRDF in bands 1-8, and BRF in bands 1-12, and snow grain size and sub-pixel snow fraction for the detected snow. All products come at 1km resolution on global Sinusoidal grid. Surface BRF (reflectance) is also provided at 500m in MODIS “land” bands 1-7. Examples of MAIAC products will be presented along with the AERONET validation globally.
