ABC Pre-Function (Westin Annapolis)
The Satellite Analysis Branch (SAB) provides and distributes operational hazard mitigation products to the user community for use in operations, research, validation, and verification. The programs and associated products are many; including a Precipitation analysis and estimation, Tropical position and intensity classification, Volcanic Ash Tracking and a Smoke and Fire detection. Hazard Mitigation analyst who have an expertise in satellite meteorology use a variety of different satellite data including NOAA's Geostationary and Polar Orbiting satellite data, NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and other satellite information to provide these products on a 24/7 daily basis. The hazard mitigation programs and products are time sensitive and our customers/users depend on the information provided to be of highest quality. SAB continues to improve each program and associated product with the help of customer/user input and new satellite technology
