Recent advances in profiling the atmosphere using hyperspectral infrared radiance measurements are described. Results from satellite, airborne, and ground-based measurements are presented to illustrate the state of the art in accuracy and vertical resolution for each observing situation. It is shown that climate quality thermodynamic and greenhouse and pollutant gas profiles can be obtained from the combination of satellite and ground-based hyperspectral radiance observations.
