The United States will present the findings of its first National Report on Sustainable Forests to be released in October 2002. The United States is participating with eleven other nation's to report on these Criteria for measuring sustainable forests. The Report concerns domestic applications for this information.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Forests serves as a forum for dialogue which has contributed to the report's content and applications. The report is a living document, intended to provide the basis for dialogue, policy and action concerning sustainable management of the nation's forests. The Roundtable is sponsoring a series of dialogues concering the report's findings and potential applications.

This workshop will present the initial findings and technical challenges for monitoring and assessing the sustainability of our nation's forests and provide an opportunity for comment and feedback of the report's findings and recommendations. The report's concluding chapter outlines future directions for the sustainable management of the nation's forests. Workshop participants will be asked to reflect on these recommendations and how they can move forward.
