During November 2001, a conference organizing group of NTFP Alaska stakeholders brought together a diverse assemblage of local, State and Federal agencies, Tribal Governments, traditional users, landholders, cottage enterprises, other NTFP related businesses, scientists, and NTFP experts and interested parties. The purpose was to exchange information, cooperate, and raise awareness of issues on sustainable and equitable environmentally and economically viable opportunities for NTFP in Alaska. This discourse sought a balance of development and sustainability with respect for traditional uses.

Results of this conference yielded the established of a draft framework for NTFP development in Alaska that is intended to provide all stakeholders with a common understanding for issues, concerns, goals, and objectives as a function of continued develop of Non-Timber Forest Products in Alaska.

Ethical, Spiritual and Social concerns were integrated into the program such that these were placed on par with other important economic and scientific concerns. Future direction and action were developed to express and integrate Alaska's approach to NTFP management and development.

This poster will present the issues, concerns and areas of common interest as expressed by all the conference attendees. Information as to the method of integration of Ethical, Spiritual and Social values in the conference as well as future directions will be presented.
