S,21.5 - Impact of intensive management practices on long-term simulations of forest resources in Georgia
Chris J. Cieszewski, University of Georgia, Athens, GA; and M. Zasada and B. E. Borders
This research focuses on the impact of intensive forest management on the sustainable harvest level in Georgia. Addressed are various questions about sustainability of current wood supply in the context of the available literature, unpublished research on intensive plantation management, growth and yield dynamics, and the implications of potential regulatory conditions associated with various Forest Practices Codes. The analysis is based on data provided by the USDA Forest Service Forest Inventory Analysis unit and GIS and Landsat TM7 images.
