Land Access for Growing and Foraging Non-Timber Products
Brigitte Parsons, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA; and A. L. Hammett and M. Mortimer
The availability of specific forest conditions and sites that will yield a regular harvest of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) is limited. Relationships can be formed between landless people and non-industrial forest landowners, forest products industry landowners, and many others.

Non-timber forest products (NTFP) are products from the forest ecosystems of plant origin, excluding sawlogs or roundwood. These products include phytopharmaceuticals, which are plant-based medicines. The availability of specific forest conditions and sites that will yield a regular harvest of NTFPs is limited. Relationships can be formed between landless people and conservation easement holders, non-industrial forest landowners, forest products industry landowners and many others. Two different lease agreements were developed and presented specifically for landowners and cultivators of NTFPs.
