Modeled after the proposed session for the 2001 SAF National Convention, we (Drs. Hammett and Kuzmic) are recruiting 4 other presenters who have extensive experience in developing international educational opportunities. During the 20-minute presentations for each university program, panelists should discuss their academic objectives, target audience, format and structure of their program, range of activities, cost for participants, and evaluation and assessment of student performance, allowing about five minutes for questions. A few slides to illustrate the program are recommended.
Our half-day session will begin with an Overview of Panel: Focus and Objectives; Introduction of Panelists; Benefits of International Education; and Realm of Possibilities. Following this opening piece, six presentations will include coverage of multi-week study-trip during summer or inter-sessions; campus-based course with short-term travel component; and semester study-abroad programs. Lastly, we will have a facilitated panel discussion when we will involve the audience.
New knowledge, skills, or insights that participants will gain from this session: 1. The set up and implementation of international educatinal programs 2. Fresh approaches to conducting international educational programs in a variety of regions 3. Information on at least 12 study abroad sessions
