This presentation will focus on the NOAA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Program’s Proving Ground and Risk Reduction (PGRR) and key activities of the PGRR Initiatives. The PGRR Initiatives have reflected how the JPSS Program has moved from meeting the defined user requirements to helping users tailor its capabilities to their unique mission needs. For years, satellite programs defined their success based on their ability to provide data and products according to the detailed level-one requirements defined early in the program acquisition. The PGRR Initiatives have helped redefine program success based on the effectiveness of the operational application of JPSS data and products by its key stakeholders. Details of several key initiatives will be presented and how this collaboration has provided increased societal benefits will be highlighted.
