It’s no surprise that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) spends the hurricane season issuing forecasts, watches, and warnings for tropical cyclones to protect lives and property, but people often wonder what takes place at NHC outside of hurricane season. NHC believes that the battle against tropical cyclones is won during the off-season and the best way to get individuals to prepare for these potentially devastating events is through education and awareness. This presentation will address some of the main outreach activities that NHC is involved with and discusses the great collaborations that help make these events successful.
