GOES-17 is the second in the GOES-R series to reach Operational status and is serving as the Operational GOES-West satellite. The quality of the science products being generated by the satellite is of the utmost importance to the mission. Product quality is assessed at GOES-R Program reviews against Program definitions of product maturity. There are 3 defined levels of product maturity: Beta, Provisional, and Full Validation. Once a product reaches Provisional validation maturity, it is deemed fit for Operational use (so long as the satellite is also Operational). For GOES-17, all Level 1b (L1b) and Level 2 (L2) derived science products have reached Beta validation maturity and most have reached Provisional validation maturity. This talk will highlight accomplishments thus far to achieve Provisional maturity for select products and the path forward for reaching Provisional for others.
