Weather and climate modification as a driving force for cloud physics research (Invited Presentation)

This is an invited presentation. In this talk I will provide a brief history of the relationship between cloud physics research and the evolution of research associated first with cloud seeding efforts, and later to understand the role of clouds in climate.
