The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of sea-land breezes in the spring of 2011 at Gangneung city located in East coastal area in South Korea. We observed the profiles of wind directions and speeds using two sets of conically scanning lidars and one set of wind profiler installed perpendicular to the direction of seashore. The horizontal characteristics of sea-land breeze was that the wind direction of sea breeze was different for different location due to complex topographical effects despite its monotonous coastline. In case of daily change of sea-land breeze, there were differences in development of sea breeze and the change into land breeze. The development of sea breeze started about an hour later in inland than that of in coastal area. Also wind speed of sea breeze in coast is about twice as strong as that in inland.
