Circumglobal Telleconnection Patterns (CTPs), the dominanat first 2 EOFs of non divergent 300mb meridional winds, have a zonal wave 5 pattern, and appear as eastward propagating wave packets with almost stationary phase speed, which often traverse the globe. These have been implicated in a variety of anomalous weather patterns. We present results of a systematic observational analysis of the temporal evolution and dynamical sources and influences of the CTP, by compositing days on which the flow resembles a localized sector of the pattern centerred around each of its centers. This reveals the wavepacket nature of the CTP and allows a dyanmical study of its evolution and influences. We present evidence that the CTP anomalies, in some phases, modify the stratospehric jet strength, by influencing high latitude planetary scale waves.
