The ensemble forecast system at Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center and maritime high wind probability forecasts

This presentation will describe the current operational Ensemble Forecast System at the U. S. Navy's, Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center. This description includes the configuration, initialization, forecast model, and available products from both the atmospheric and wave model components of the system. Short range and long range plans for improvements will also be discussed. Examples of verification statistics in regard to recent upgrades will be presented, especially for maritime high wind probability forcasts.
