High-resolution observations of cyclic tornadogenesis on 12 May 2004 near Attica, KS
Yvette P. Richardson, Penn State Univ., University Park, PA; and J. M. Wurman and P. M. Markowski
On 12 May 2004, a supercell near Attica, KS produced multiple tornadoes in rapid succession. In this study, high-resolution radar observations of this cyclic process collected by the Doppler on Wheels (DOW) radars are examined. In particular, the evolution of small-scale flow features in the rear-flank downdraft is studied during this cyclic period using a combination of single- and dual-Doppler analyses. Comparisons are made with other observations and with conceptual models. Recorded presentation
