A barotropic global-DFS-spectral model is applied to the prediction of the typhoon track. DFS spectral model is a global domain spectral model that incorporates the double Fourier series as orthogonal basis functions. Since the availability of fast algorithm for the DFS model, the global prediction with the transform grid size of 20km is accomplished with the computational efficiency. Results of the case studies for 3 cases of year 1999 and 2000 will be presented. The prediction error and performance are going to be compared to the results of the regional barotropic model, focusing to the effect of boundary and the large-scale flow field.
