Effect of Typhoon Songda on Remote Precipitation in Japan and its Adjacent

The Advanced Weather Research and Forecast Model (ARW-WRF 2.2.1) is used to simulate Typhoon Songda (2004) at high resolution (9-kmspacing) from its mature stage as a super Typhoon on 2 September 2004 to investigate Tropical cyclone's influence on environment circulation as well as its effect on the remote precipitation in Japan and its adjacent which is far away from Typhoon. A bogus scheme is used in initial field in term to enhance the intensity of initial Typhoon for it is at a super stage when the model time is at the initial time.

Sensitivity experiment is designed as removed Typhoon component from the initial data so that the effect of Typhoon can be deduced.

The sea leave pressure and low level maximum wind have been compared with the best analysis of JTWC. The model captures reasonably well the evolution of the storm. In particular, the model reproduces the track, the rainfall variation,the maximum wind and minimum sea leave pressure. The results indicate that Typhoon Songda have affected on the precipitation in Japan and its adjacent. Diagnoses implicate that Typhoon Songda act the role of transport the moisture. When Typhoon is removed, the chunnel of moisture transport was cut off.
