During the BOREAS experiment, I learned the “nighttime missing CO2” issue. My biogeo mentor, Ray Desjardins, led me into the area of interactions between the atmosphere and ecosystem over complex terrain. We started a spontaneous fun field experiment at Candle Lake, which inspired me to investigate interactions between the atmosphere and ecosystem over complex terrain whenever opportunities are present. I will give a quick overview on what we have learned the interaction over complex terrain and present some results from our aircraft field campaign over the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
