6.1 Long Range Weather Forecasts: Valuable or Valueless?

The trend toward the broadcast of specific one week and beyond precipitation/temperature forecasts for individual cities appears on the rise. Are we really getting more accurate with these far out prognostications or is this another case of never learning from the past?
