CASTOR2 : a new radar computer for the French Radar Network

Météo-France will replace the 18 radar computers of its network in the following two years. The main functions of the software are described : commands for the different radars, alarm survey, local and distant remote control software, and signal processing. A new method for image elaboration is described. The ability of the software and of the hardware to take in account Doppler and dual polarization processings are discussed. Finally the project main steps and schedule are given.
