Airborne Doppler radar observations of a shallow cold front in the deformation zone during FASTEX(Fronts and Atlantic Storm-Track Experiment) on 26 Jan 1997 are presented. The uniqueness of this data set is that in addition to the detailed dual-Doppler analysis obtained by ELDORA(ELectra DOppler RAdar) for a shallow cold front in the deformation core region, the flight level data recorded by NCAR Electra aircraft also enable us to construct the thermodynamical fields in the front zone. Using the kinematic and thermodynamical fields obtained by ELDORA and Electra, thermal wind imbalance is calculated. Future work includes frontogenesis calculations from dual-Doppler data as well as from synoptic scale surface observations.
