Several micrometeorological measurement campaigns are underway to quantify emissions of methane from Canadian dairy farms. The goals are to evaluate emission models, improve the methane emission inventory, and determine the effect of mitigation strategies focused on manure management. Instrumentation for measuring emissions will be described, including open-path lasers, pan-tilt units, and off-grid operation. Preliminary emission results, comparison with emission models, and challenges encountered will be presented.
