Joel N. Myers, AccuWeather, Inc., State College, PA; and M. A. Steinberg
Numerous innovations that have revolutionized weather forecasts and presentations have been created and introduced by or for television meteorologists. From the first tornado warnings to the first seven-day forecasts, from color radar displays and mosaics to street-level radar, the commercial sector has a rich history of creating new methods to present and communicate the weather to the public. This presentation will examine and review the history of weather innovations by the commercial sector, focusing especially on innovations presented by television meteorologists.
