……and there’s a wonderful view of Mont Blanc
Gerald Fleming, International Association of Broadcast Meteorology, Wexford, Ireland
The Board of Broadcast Meteorology of the AMS are working with the IABM and WMO to bring the 2004 AMS Broadcast conference to Geneva, Switzerland. Here, American weathercasters can join with their colleagues from all corners of the world to see how their work fits into the global context, and to experience the common bonds of passion, pride and professionalism that unite us in our vocation.
Gerald Fleming, current Chair of the IABM and Chair of the Expert Team on Media Issues for the WMO, explains why he believes that it is now more important than ever for weather broadcasters to look beyond their own backyard, and to understand something of the impact of weather on other peoples in other places. He will provide practical information on travelling to Europe; on what to expect when you get there; on what the likely costs and expenses will be. He will look for your suggestions and support to help make Geneva 2004 a unique and memorable event.
