Bad Meteorology
Craig James, WOOD-TV, Grand Rapids, MI
"Warm air holds more moisture than cold air." Have you told your viewers that? Or, have you said "the Earth's atmosphere acts like a blanket, trapping in heat"? Both of these statements are examples of what Dr. Alistair Fraser (professor emeritus of Penn State University) calls "nonsense" and "bad meteorology". This talk will review his work with the purpose of making sure that we as broadcasters are passing along the correct science to our viewers.
