Fact or Fiction: 25 Year Intense Competitiors Join Forces

Harvey Leonard, WCVB-TV, Needham, MA; and D. Albert

For a quarter of a century, Harvey Leonard and Dick Albert competed intensely as Chief Meteorologists at different major network affiliated stations in Boston.

About one year ago, Harvey ended his 25 year relationship with WHDH-TV in order to join forces with Dick at WCVB-TV.

How did this unique situation occur?

How did WCVB-TV promote Harvey's arrival?

How have Harvey and Dick handled sharing forecasting preparation and on-air duties that each used to handle individually?

What have Harvey and Dick learned about themselves?

Has this been successful?

Could this occur in other markets?

What has the public reaction been to this unique merger of two high profile on-air meteorologists?

All of these questions and more will be addressed both verbally and visually, including video examples of on-air promos and "team" weather anchoring within newscasts, including team weather excerpts from The President's Day Storm in February, 2003, as well as team examples from "The Storm of a Century" Special that aired on Feb.7, 2003, commemmorating the 25 year anniversary of the "Blizzard of '78."
