Kenneth Reeves, AccuWeather, Inc, State College, PA; and M. A. Steinberg and J. T. Candor

AccuWeather.com® first became available as a source of free advertiser-supported Internet weather information in 1996, with the introduction of the fee-supported AccuWeather.com Premium in 1997. In 2003, AccuWeather introduced a version of its premium site designed specifically for forecast meteorologists, known as AccuWeather.com Professional. The site was built to provide a complete array of highly advanced data and computer model information worldwide, all in one place in an easy-to-use, ad-free format. Some of the features include:

1. Complete real-time NEXRAD Doppler radar information, including 20 different types of single-site data, Metro Radars, animations and a variety of mosaics.

2. A vast array of numerical model graphics, data and animations covering the U.S. and worldwide, including the GFS, GFS Ensembles, ECMWF, UKMET, Navy NOGAPS Wavewatch III, ETA, ETA-215, ETA Ensembles, NGM, RUC2, RSM Ensembles and Air Force MM5.

3. Worldwide satellite imagery, including visible, infrared, enhanced infrared and water vapor images.

4. Worldwide observations and surface plot images.

5. Streaming video weather presentations geared for meteorologists, such as “The Long Ranger”™ and “Weather Point-Counterpoint®”.

6. Interactive GIS weather.

Content is available through Internet access or with a hand-held PDA.
