A Southern New Hampshire Survey on Watersheds
With information gathered from the "Eyes on the Environment" Watershed Education Workshop for Broadcast Meteorologists presented at last year's Broadcast Conference in Williamsburg, VA, we decided to conduct a survey on watershed knowledge among the general public here in our local market of Southern New Hampshire.
My Weather Watcher, Travis Marshall, a freshman at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire, who hopes to one day major in meteorology, made up the survey on watersheds. He and I handed them out at our local Market Basket supermarket in the late summer of 2002. Additional surveys were handed out later on to the science classes at Pinkerton Academy. In all we had over 100 responses.
This presentation will bring you the results of that survey and help you to realize that there is a lack of knowledge among the public on this subject that we as broadcasters can enlighten them upon.
