In Honor of Two Centuries of Cloud Naming
H. Michael Mogil, StormCenter Communications, Ellicott City, MD
Luke Howard, an English pharmacist, is credited with naming the clouds (as we know them today) 200 years ago. To celebrate this important meteorological break-though, I’d like to offer an historical perspective, as well as a PowerPoint slide-video presentation, showcasing the beauty and messages of clouds from the ground, air and space. There will also be an emphasis on how this information can be used in weathercasts to enlighten their viewers about clouds as well as fostering cloud watching.

In short, this will be a fun-filled talk, with lots and lots of visuals.

Time at least 20 minutes…30 plus if possible
