Observations of plumes of particles and water released from aircraft
Joshua Wurman, Center for Severe Weather Research, Boulder, CO
Mobile radars have recently been used to observe non-traditional, man-made phenomena. A DOW was used to detect plumes of simlulants mimicing terrorist releases of airborne chemical and biological agents. Another DOW was used to measure the dimensions and intensity of plumes of water and fire retardants released by helicopters and fix wing aircraft. Results of these detection experiments will be presented.
