Since the summer of 2002, polarimetric radar data have been made available to forecasters in real time at the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Norman, Oklahoma as part of the Joint Polarization Experiment (JPOLE). For the first time, these data have been used during operational severe thunderstorm and flash flood prediction. A preliminary overview of the integration of polarimetric radar data into the warning decision-making process, including specific examples, is presented.
