High resolution dual-Doppler analysis of a tornado on 22 May 2004
Joshua Wurman, Center for Severe Weather Research, Boulder, CO
Two Doppler On Wheels (DOW) radars observed the genesis of a tornado on 22 May 2004. Several volumetric scans were obtained during the genesis and maturation of the tornado. The strengthening of the low level wind field and a complex multiple vortex structure aloft are analyzed. The high resolution observations permit the resolution of both the tornado flow and surrounding structures.
