An introduction to New Orleans weather and climate
The presentation will include a climatic summary of the region. It will also detail the unique geography (Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain), and how it all relates to our local weather patterns.
Also included, will be a look at weather extremes, namely flooding and tropical weather.
There will also be an explanation of the cities unique flood control program and the hurricane protection levees.
