National Weather Service Action Plan for Serving Broadcast Meteorologist's Needs
James E. Lee, NOAA/NWS, Silver Spring, MD

In early 2003, the National Weather Service (NWS) surveyed its media partners using the American Customer Satisfaction Index. While the media was generally satisfied with the NWS, there were areas that were identified for improvement, such as increasing the accuracy and more frequent issuances of forecasts, reducing the errors in short-duration warnings, and timely updating of forecasts during hazardous weather conditions.

This presentation will outline an action plan on how the NWS is going to provide better service to meet the broadcast meteorologist community’s needs, including methods at improving dialogue between the NWS and broadcasters. Questions and answers from the audience on NWS products and services will also be welcomed during the presentation.
