Stratosphere-Troposphere interaction (STI) plays an important role in climate and atmospheric change, through its physical and chemical coupling. VHF Doppler radar is a powerful tool to reveal the interaction in high vertical and temporal resolution. In mid-latitude spring the interaction is rather strong accompanied with some typical synoptic system, such as fronts and cold vortex, etc. In this paper, we present a case study of early April 2003, observed by our Xianghe VHF Doppler radar. Temporal variation of wind speed as well as Cn2 in upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UT/LS) region over Xianghe (40°N,116°E) are analyzed. Composite analysis is made with VHF radar data with geostationary satellite(GMS) data and NCEP data. It is shown that VHF Doppler radar observation may reveal some features of STI.
