A 4-D, airborne dual-Doppler latent heat retrieval in rapidly intensifying Hurricane Guillermo (1997) will be presented. Ancillary data sources are used to make several improvements in existing retrieval methods.

In addition, the use of these data for understanding and predicting tropical cyclone intensification with a compressible, non-linear atmospheric model will be discussed.
