The Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment 2 (VORTEX2) employed an unprecedented array of mobile radars (6 X-bands, 2 C-bands, a Ka-band, 2 C-bands, and a W-band) as well as 24 Sticknet and 14 Tornado Pod 1 and 1.5 m deployable weather stations, 4 mobile balloon vans, 14 Mobile Mesonet instrumented vehicles, 4 deployable disdrometers, UAVs, photogrammetry teams and damage survey teams in order to observe the processes related to tornadogenesis and in order to study tornado structure and low level winds. Preliminary results from the Spring 2009 field phase of this experiment will be presented.
