P11.1 Overview of ELDORA operations in T-PARC

The T-PARC experiment was the first international typhoon experiment in the Western Pacific (WPAC) intended to study typhoon lifecycle from genesis, intensification, mature structure, and extra-tropical transition. From 1 August to 7 October 2008, unprecedented four aircraft facilities from the U.S., Germany, and Taiwan were deployed to WPAC with airborne Doppler radar, Doppler Lidar, water vapor DIAL, dropsonde, and in situ measurements. The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of the ELDORA operations in T-PARC and the status of the ELDORA data.

A total of 23 research flights for NRL P3/ELDORA were conducted during T-PARC. ELDORA sampled four major typhoons, Nuri, Sinlaku, Hagupit, and super typhoon Jangmi. The ELDORA data have been processed through standard quality control procedures and are available to T-PARC PIs. Highlights of typhoon structures in Sinlaku and Hagupit will be shown in the presentation.
