During the early fall of 2013, it is planned to deploy the DOW network to landfalling significant hurricanes along the Gulf of Mexico and/or Atlantic coasts. DOW radars, forwardly deployed to sample pristine on shore flow in the hurricane boundary layer, will collect quick and rapid scan data with fine-scale resolution. In situ 1-2 m AGL weather stations and mobile mesonets instrumented with anemometers at 3.5 m AGL will collect near surface data. Wind fields will be compared with observed damage.
